I bet many of you reading this have had or have given someone ginger-ale when dealing with the flu and trying to rid the body of nausea. The benefits of ginger helping with nausea are well known, even in my house growing up as a kid, my parents would run to the store and pick up some ginger-ale to help my upset stomach. I consider ginger a superfood because of how amazing it works to help reduce most nausea symptoms.
I don’t recommend consuming ginger as ginger-ale pop just because of all the added sugar. Especially when we are sick and dealing with nausea, it’s not beneficial to drink a sugar filled pop just because it has ginger in it. There are ways around it such as making your own ginger-ale or even making your own ginger tea. My ginger tea usually consists of a few slices of ginger, juice from one lemon, and a little bit of honey to taste. It seems to do the trick. The Vitamin C from the lemon doesn’t hurt either!
Next time you’re out shopping, pick up some ginger root and try making your own homemade tea.
